Under the New Port Richey Police Department, the New Port Richey Animal Protection Unit is an all volunteer unit entrusted by the City Council to provide animal control services to the citizens of the City of New Port Richey.
The development of the City of New Port Richey Animal Protection Unit, will allow the City to be self-sufficient, while providing much needed expanded animal control services, without a need for increased budgetary obligation.
This plan provides the most cost effective, efficient, and responsible approach to serving the entire community, now and into the foreseeable future. In addition, it helps the City, by creating one of the best animal care and control programs in the region and putting it on the forefront of casting a new vision of the future as a pet friendly community.
This challenge is readily increasing given the current state of the economy and the resulting decrease in the City’s available fiscal resources. We believe we have met the challenge head on.
